Custom Residence – Indian Wells, California (1978)

This residence was designed by architect Patrick Evan Sheehy, for whom I worked from approximately 1977 through 1980.

During that time, Patrick assigned me responsibility for preparing the construction documents for several custom residences. This home, designed for developer Chuck Struthers, was one of those projects.

Preparing these working drawings provided invaluable early experience in translating an architect’s design into a complete set of permit and construction documents. It was during projects such as this that I developed many of the technical drafting, detailing, and coordination skills that would later become the foundation of my own residential design practice.

The photographs shown here were obtained from a recent MLS listing and illustrate how beautifully the home has been maintained nearly five decades after its original construction.

Should I be able to locate copies of the original construction drawings from the City of Indian Wells archives, I hope to add selected drawing sheets to this page as additional historical documentation of the project.
